Our Story

Sophonie and Maria first crossed paths during the Fall 2022 semester while studying abroad in Amman, Jordan.

Their program focused on refugees, health, and humanitarian action, immersing them in the complexities of global humanitarian challenges. Together, they embarked on numerous field visits to a wide range of NGOs in Jordan and Turkey, including a transformative visit to the Za’atari refugee camp in Jordan.

Throughout the semester, both Sophonie and Maria interned with NGOs, gaining firsthand experience in the field and a deeper understanding of the humanitarian landscape. These experiences sparked meaningful conversations between them, leading to deep reflection on the scope of the challenges they had witnessed. While they recognized the significant efforts already being made to address humanitarian crises, they also saw an urgent need for innovative approaches and expanded action.

By the end of the program, Sophonie and Maria knew they wanted to contribute to lasting change. Motivated by a shared commitment to advancing human rights and addressing humanitarian crises, they decided to create an organization that would rise to meet these challenges.

And so, Posterity International was founded—a nonprofit dedicated to advancing human rights and tackling the world’s most pressing humanitarian challenges. Together, they aim to build a future where every individual’s dignity and rights are upheld.
